Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and KiddieGPT ("KiddieGPT," "we," "us") governing your access to and use of the KiddieGPT browser extension, the kiddiegpt.com website, and all related services (together, the "Service"). By installing the extension, joining the waitlist, or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility & the parent's role
1.1 You must be an adult to set up KiddieGPT
The Service is intended to be installed, configured, and managed by a parent or legal guardian. To install the extension, create a parent PIN, or purchase a subscription, you must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) and legally able to enter into a contract.
1.2 Children use the Service under supervision
Children ages 5–12 may use KiddieGPT only with the knowledge, consent, and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. The Service is deliberately built around parent-managed settings — a PIN-protected dashboard, content filters, and time limits — and is not designed for unsupervised use by a child.
1.3 You are responsible for your household's use
If you set up KiddieGPT for a child, you accept these Terms on that child's behalf and are responsible for their use of the Service, including any subscription charges and any activity under your installation.
2. What the Service does
2.1 Description
KiddieGPT is a Chrome browser extension that uses artificial intelligence to help children learn from web content. Current features include reading and comprehension tools (Explain, Simplify), a question-and-answer tool (Ask Questions), homework guidance (Homework Helper), worksheet generation, a vocabulary builder, and a parent-controls dashboard.
2.2 The Service relies on third-party AI
KiddieGPT uses large language models operated by third parties, currently OpenAI and Anthropic. On the Free plan you may supply your own API key; on paid plans, requests are routed through KiddieGPT's relay using our keys. AI output is generated automatically and may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or — despite our filtering — not perfectly age-appropriate. We do not guarantee any specific output.
2.3 Not professional advice
KiddieGPT is an educational aid. It does not provide medical, psychological, legal, financial, or other professional advice, and must not be relied on as a substitute for a qualified professional or for a teacher's instruction.
2.4 Content filtering is best-effort
The content filter is a meaningful safeguard, but no automated filter is perfect. It is a tool to assist supervising parents, not a guarantee that a child will never encounter unsuitable content. Active parental supervision remains essential.
3. Subscriptions, billing & refunds
3.1 Plans
KiddieGPT offers a permanent Free plan and paid Premium and Family plans, billed monthly or yearly. Current prices and what each plan includes are listed on our Pricing page, which forms part of these Terms.
3.2 Recurring billing
Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. By subscribing, you authorize us and our payment processor to charge your chosen payment method on a recurring basis. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never receive or store your full card details.
3.3 Price changes
We may change prices. If a change affects your subscription, we will give you notice (by email if we have one on file, and/or via the extension) before the new price takes effect, so you can decide whether to continue.
3.4 Cancellation
You can cancel anytime from Settings → Subscription → Manage Billing, or through the Stripe customer portal. After cancelling, you keep paid features until the end of the billing period already paid for, then move to the Free plan.
3.5 Refunds
If you are not satisfied within 14 days of your first Premium or Family purchase, email support@kiddiegpt.com for a full refund. After 14 days, refunds are at our discretion; you can always cancel to prevent future charges. Nothing here limits any non-waivable refund rights you may have under local consumer law.
4. Your responsibilities
4.1 Supervise and configure
As the responsible adult, you agree to set a parent PIN, choose an appropriate content-filter level, review your child's activity periodically, and ensure your child's use is safe and age-appropriate.
4.2 Acceptable use
You agree not to, and not to allow anyone to: use the Service unlawfully; attempt to bypass the parent controls, content filter, or usage limits; reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code except where that restriction is prohibited by law; resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the Service; use the Service to generate content that is unlawful, harmful, or abusive; or interfere with the Service's operation or security.
4.3 Account & PIN security
You are responsible for keeping your parent PIN, license code, and any credentials confidential, and for activity that occurs through your installation.
5. Intellectual property
5.1 Our rights
The Service — including the extension, website, software, "KiddieGPT" name, logo, owl mascot, visual design, and copy — is owned by KiddieGPT and protected by intellectual-property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your family's own educational purposes.
5.2 Your content
You keep ownership of the content you provide (questions, custom blocked words, profile settings). You grant us a limited licence to process that content solely to operate, secure, and improve the Service. We do not use your child's questions or the AI's responses to train our own AI models.
5.3 Third-party web content
To provide context-aware features, KiddieGPT may read text from the webpage your child is actively viewing. We respect third-party rights and do not store or republish page content beyond what is needed to complete the immediate request.
6. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that AI output will be accurate or appropriate in every instance, or that the content filter will catch every unsuitable item. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, KiddieGPT and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) USD $100 or (b) the total amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
8. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless KiddieGPT and its team from claims, damages, and reasonable expenses arising out of your misuse of the Service or your breach of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law and except where such claims result from our own fault.
9. Suspension & termination
You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension and cancelling any active subscription. We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or its users — with notice where reasonably practicable. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Intellectual Property, Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, and Indemnity) will survive.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will give at least 14 days' notice by email (if we have one on file) and/or via a notice in the extension before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
11. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [STATE — to be completed before launch], United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in [COUNTY, STATE — to be completed], except where applicable consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
